Graduate Pathway in Biostatistics

Students who successfully complete an INTO Mason Graduate Pathway program in Biostatistics are assured progression to a Mason graduate degree program upon submission of additional required application materials.

Upon successful completion of an INTO Mason Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your second semester of graduate study at George Mason University. This transition from an INTO Mason Pathway program to a university degree program is called 'progression'.

Degree Program Components

2-Semester:

  • 36 credit hour program
  • 9 credit hours apply from Pathway
  • 27 credit hours remaining toward degree

1-Semester:

  • 36 credit hour program
  • 6 credit hours apply from Pathway
  • 30 credit hours remaining toward degree

English language requirements:

TOEFL iBT 80 (17+ subscores in reading and writing), IELTS 6.5 (6.0+ subscores in reading and writing), PTEA 53, Completion of AE Core and OCS Level 6, or IELA 176 (169 in reading and writing).

Age requirements: 17 years and above
Academic requirements:

Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent in the areas of computer science, computer engineering, information technology, business, economics or related discipline. 2.75 undergraduate GPA equivalent. Students entering the program must have completed the equivalent to: MATH 113 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus I (4 credits), MATH 114 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus II (4 credits), MATH 213 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus III (3 credits), MATH 203 - Linear Algebra (3 credits) OR MATH 321 - Abstract Algebra (3 credits), STAT 250 - Introductory Statistics I (3 credits) OR STAT 344 - Probability and Statistics for Engineers and Scientists I (3 credits), STAT 346 - Probability for Engineers (3 credits) OR MATH 351 - Probability (3 credits). Minimums for each course must be equivalent to a C.
